Rollei unveils the Rollei 35AF, a reimagining of the iconic Rollei 35, slated for release in autumn 2024. Equipped with cutting-edge Lidar technology for precise autofocus, this compact camera combines the classic design of the original with innovative technology.

Norderstedt, 30.01.2024. Rollei, the renowned expert in photo and video accessories, eagerly announces the upcoming market launch of the Rollei 35AF in autumn of this year.

In cooperation with MiNT, innovation and originality are being reinvented. The new edition of the compact camera named Rollei 35AF is equipped with modern features such as autofocus. Nevertheless, it was important to both companies to preserve the best of the original: Just as compact, just as beautiful, and simply iconic.

Gary Ho, the founder of MiNT, explains: “In response to the demand for a truly compact film camera designed for the modern age, we present the Rollei 35AF. While the final product bears a resemblance to its predecessor, it has undergone a remarkable transformation. It is faster, simpler, and more user-friendly.”

The Rollei 35AF is the first 35mm film camera equipped with Lidar technology and a state-of-the-art, laser-based autofocus system, previously primarily used in smartphones and drones. This technology enables unprecedented accuracy and range in focusing, which is crucial, especially with large apertures. The use of Lidar not only guarantees precise focusing but also expands the creative possibilities for photographers. Additionally, the new camera features improved functions that can be particularly exciting for both beginners and professionals. Provisions have also been made for difficult lighting conditions by integrating a flash into the camera.
