The Rollei F:X Pro Hard GND 8 (3 stops/0.9) is a graduated neutral density filter. The abbreviation GND stands for Graduated Neutral Density Filter, which refers to a neutral density filter with a transition from tint to transparency. With graduated filters, the coating runs out to one side. The word 'Hard' here means that the filter has a very hard transition from the dark to the transparent area.

You can use the Hard GND for these subjects:

• Shots at the sea
• Sunset or sunrise with a clear horizon line
• Subjects with a clear horizon line and a large imbalance of brightness

Unlike normal ND filters, GNDs are used for subjects where the brightness conditions have a certain gradient and therefore require different exposure for an evenly exposed image. A classic application for a Hard GND8 is, for example, a sunset on the beach, where the foreground does not need to be darkened at all, but the background is still very bright due to the sun and therefore needs to be darkened. The Hard GND8 compensates for such scenarios.

Our Hard GND8 is available in the size 100 x 150 millimeters (100mm filter holder system). It has a density of 0.9 and 3 stops. One stop means that the amount of light falling on the sensor is reduced by one f-stop.
